what is A meridian

A meridian is where Qi flows.

This simple sentence speaks volumes! Qi (pronounced “chee”) is a Chinese word that is translated as “energy” or “breath.” We cannot see Qi directly, yet all life depends on Qi and all life arises from Qi.

Qi is more than breath. Qi flows throughout the body, not just to the lungs. Where does this invisible Qi flow? It flows within meridians.

meridian massage

It is a unique form of remedial massage typically used in conjunction with other Chinese medicine therapies such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. However, a meridian massage by itself can be wonderfully relaxing especially when it targets your individual health issues.

Tui Na describes the various hand forms used to stimulate related acupuncture points, channels and muscles. Chinese massage can be used alone to improve circulation and strengthen the body, or in synergy with acupuncture and herbs for the treatment of many diseases.

With the hand forms of pressing, pushing, pinching, rolling, tapping, grasping etc., it can:

  • Stimulate the related points, channels and muscles of the body

  • Improve blood circulation and metabolism

  • Regulate the flow of the Qi

  • Remove stagnation and toxins

  • Balance internal organs

  • Recover the functions of the tendons, bones and joints

  • Eliminate tiredness and fatigue

  • Cure diseases and strengthen the body

  • Relieve pain

Oxygen injection cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place.

Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the ‘Meridians’ of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians.

Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to seven inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve the appearance of cellulite. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available.

Cupping, the technique, is very useful and very safe and can be easily learned and incorporated into your family health practices.

In short, cupping brings fresh blood to the area and improves circulation and is widely used for aches and pain relief for reasons described above but is also believed to be used to treat respiratory problems, coughs, wheezing and digestive problems.

I had a stellar experience here. Not only is Amy warm and welcoming, but her treatments are also very professional and thorough. I went in with many blackheads on my nose, and after a facial, they were gone! The facial massage was also excellent; Soothing and refresh. My skin has never felt healthier or better. Highly recommend!
